SKILL2- UNIT 6: MANAGING TIME EFFECTIVELY
1.
Are
you a good time manager?
è I think, I used to. However, when I study
in the university, there are a lot of assignments and new knowledge, I feel
like I’m overloaded and I still try to manage it.
One of
the most important skills that you should have is time-management.
You have to manage
your time efficiently when you have something to do such as homework,
housework, projects and other tasks, or cope with competing deadlines.
Sometimes, I have
to cope with different tasks with different deadlines. I usually jot them down
in a notebook.
To be effective, I
list the tasks I have and sort these in order of priority, and then to devote
most time to the most important tasks. Therefore, I always complete my
assignment on time.
First, I often set goals, and make plans for the
things I need to do on a desk diary or an app on my mobile. After that, I
organize them on a schedule so that I can check later.
In
another way, I
prioritize my activities, decide what is more important and give it the most of
my time and add it to the top of my list.
I also break down bigger projects into small,
manageable steps so that I can accomplish them one step at a time.
Besides, I always minimize distractions as much as
possible, don’t use the phone, close unnecessary browsers, and block social
media such as Facebook, Twitter... to concentrate on main tasks.
When you have good
time-management skills, it helps you to become more independent and confident.
There are three
time-management skills: making plans, prioritising activities and developing
routines.
